Ingredients
Directions
1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar (optional) and salt.
2. Rub in the butter and stir in the yeast.
3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes. To make this easier you can use an electric mixer fitter with a dough hook, just knead for 5 minutes.
4. Shape the dough and place in a greased bread tin or on a baking tray. Cover with a clean, damp tea towel and leave in a warm place until the dough has doubled in size. For best results leave for 2 hours. The clean damp tea towel helps stop your bread from drying out!
5. Uncover your bread dough and place in a preheated oven at 230°C/ 210°C Fan/ Gas Mark 8 and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. When cooked and baked loaf should sound hollow when tapped underneath. Then leave to cool and enjoy!
