Ingredients
For thickening
2 tbsp McDougalls Instant Thickening Granules per 300ml (1/2 pint) of liquid.
For white sauce
300 ml (1/2 pint) of milk
25 g (1 oz) of butter
2 tbsp McDougalls Instant Thickening Granules
For thickening stews, casseroles, sauces or gravies
1. Bring the dish, sauce or gravy to a steady boil.
2. Remove from heat and stir in approx. 2 tablespoons of thickening granules per 300ml (1/2 pint) of liquid.
3. Return to heat and stir until dissolved into a smooth, velvety texture.
For smooth white sauce
1. Heat 300 ml (1/2 pint) of milk with 25 g of butter (1 oz) to a gentle boil.
2. Remove from heat, stir in 2 tablespoons of granules until dissolved.
Top tips
Season to desired taste, then serve and enjoy!
For when you want extra thickness, simply stir in more granules.
